Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Harith

Graduated from the Faculty of Science, Cairo University (B.Sc., 1968), completed a Ph.D. in Experimental Physics at Dresden Technical University (1977), and was promoted to Professor of Laser Physics in 1989. His career includes a long tenure in leadership and research at the National Institute of Laser Science (NILES) from 1999 onward, where he established a leading research group in applied laser spectroscopy (supervised 37 M.Sc. and 29 Ph.D. graduates).
- Authored 182 indexed research publications (Scopus) with over 3,600 citations and an h‑index of 33.
- Held senior leadership roles at NILES: Department Head; Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; Dean (2003–2005). Other academic and administrative posts: Vice Chairman, Board of Directors, African Laser Center (ALC), Johannesburg (2005–2010); member of the Supreme Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities; Chairman of the Egyptian Society of Optical Sciences and Applications (ESOSA). Member of the European Physical Society (EPS); Senior Member of Optica (formerly OSA); Egyptian Liaison Chair of the IUPAP.
